The Costa de Cobre project (formerly Los Chapitos) represents a style of deposit known as IOCG (Iron Oxide-Copper-Gold) that extends down the Peruvian coast into Chile and includes such deposits as Mina Justa (Peru), Mantos Blancos (Chile), and La Candelaria (Chile), to name but a few. IOCG deposits are particularly attractive exploration targets due to their high grades and frequent coproduct metals (gold and silver).

The Costa de Cobre project is located just 15km from the coastal town of Chala with access to water, power, and a major road network.

There is a ready supply of semiskilled labour and the project is just eight hours by road from the Peruvian capital, Lima.
